In the section ABOUT US they normally write how flourishing their business is, how many years they have been on the market, some even add more years for better effect, yet some use other tricks to attract buyers.
About our company we say openly that our organization was set up 12 years ago. Being its director, I worked my way up from a factory worker to company manager at Fedoskino Factory, where I came to work in the not so remote year 2007. I was so passionate about the folk art of lacquer miniature that I set my mind on acquiring an extensive knowledge of it, to know it inside out. To this end, I had to go through all stages of production, from cardboard wrapping to box-painting. So many things seemed beyond understanding for me back then. At first, for example, I was haunted by the question why it took that long – 3-4 months – to make the boxes. Then I would familiarize myself with the artists and the process of painting the boxes. This proved yet more challenging because it required an understanding of why the observance of the technological process is so important for the production of a quality product. Getting to know the artists gave me an idea of what the production process was all about and of an individual style of each of the masters of lacquer miniatures.
Artists are a special sort, with each having witnessed hard times and each being an accomplished personality, at times a fairly sophisticated one. Few artists can paint all scenes equally well (artists who can do that are one in a milllion). Some specialize in three-horse carriages, others do architecture, still others – landscapes, etc. It is more than a challenge to remember everyone by their last name, first name, middle name, or to bear in mind who is capable of what in terms of painting. I would say that the getting-to-know period took several years, until I began to eventually show some kind of awareness and, most importantly, they began to reckon with me. This is worth a lot in the world of painting. In the past, artists lashed back at my criticism, saying who he is to criticize us, he does not even have artistic qualifications, what right he has to make a comment on us. Now, everything is different: I have established a close cooperation with the artists and many do not hesitate to ask for my opinion. It is impossible to recount everything that has happened in my life over the years. What I can say for sure is that today I have the honor to know the cream of miniature artists. And the point is not that I was fortunate to become a director but that I was able to fall in love with my profession and that it has become my craft.
In 2019, I decided to leave the Fedoskino miniature painting factory in order to pave my own way in the production of miniature boxes. The business, known as the Artel of Painters, which I established 12 years ago and which has gained great experience and has enjoyed tremendous success in the market, is acquiring a new dimension. As before, I can say for sure that the range of our products will satisfy the most exquisite of tastes. We have received orders from reputable organizations and from officials of all ranks. Our buyers include governors, senators, deputies, military leaders, pop stars, their family members, friends, and, of course, ordinary people who know the value of genuine Russian lacquer miniatures.
